Sheikh Ahmed Deedat
Ahmed Deedat was born on 1 July 1918 in Tadkeshwar, India, and grew up in South Africa. In 1957 he co-founded the Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI) in Durban.
Over four decades he lectured across the world on Islam and Christianity and held public debates with leading Christian evangelists, among them Jimmy Swaggart, Anis Shorrosh, Floyd E. Clark and Stanley Sjöberg. In 1986 he received the King Faisal International Prize for service to Islam.
He died on 8 August 2005 in Verulam, South Africa.
